The EAA was constituted in 2004 when they were provided with a small plot of land that enabled several families to grow organically. This has affectionately been called the Gardenshare and where the EAA developed its roots.

Working with Moray Council, the Association looked for viable options to try and grow on a larger scale and provide for more families. This took a number of years but the catalyst was the development of the Community Empowerment (Scotland) Act 2015. Pinefield playing fields were earmarked as a potential allotment site in 2016. The EAA were eventually given the keys to enter the Pinefield site in July 2023 and we manage the site on behalf of the Council.

Further to the work between EAA and Moray Council to establish the Pinefield site, Moray Allotments Policy now provides guidance and principles that allow the Council to work with stakeholders to identify and develop allotment sites. It also provides information on responsibilities and guidance to support partnership working between Moray Council, voluntary sector agencies, Community Management Groups, and other stakeholders in managing allotment provision.
