The EAA was constituted in 2004 where they were provided with a small plot of land that enabled several families to grow organically. This has affectionately been called the Gardenshare and where the EAA developed its roots.

Working with Moray Council the Association looked for viable options to try and grow on a larger scale and provide for more families. This took a number of years but the catalyst was the development of the Community Empowerment (Scotland) Act 2015.

Pinefield playing fields were earmarked as a potential allotment site in 2016. Since then, work continued to try and progress the allotments. Moray Council then managed to produce documentation would provide a closed loop process for the project from start to finish. The process documentation provides responsibility to each department that is involved within the Council, and also the order that each department should be involved. This process is now the benchmark for all allotment applications going through Moray Council and will provide a faster response for the people of Moray.

The EAA were eventually given the keys to enter the site in July 2023 where we manage the site on behalf of the Council.
